Happy Birthday to the Fire House

10 years old... where does the time go?!?!  The Fire House Restaurant located at the north end of downtown, celebrates its 10th Anniversary today.  Donnie Brown and his staff have done a fabulous job of creating an inviting atmosphere full of character.  Having restored the historic fire station was no easy feat and making it into the success it is today is quite an accomplishment.  Our hats go off to Donnie and The Fire House Restaurant.  Happy 10th Birthday!

Goodbye Old Friend

After 15 years of serving Downtown Harrisburg, Perks N' Bribes will be closing their doors on January 31st.  The quaint shop has provided many with their daily lottery ticket and has often been frequented by tourists looking for Harrisburg memorabilia.  The shop offered a variety of knick knacks and peculiar goodies, a little something for everyone... Perks N' Bribes will truly be missed!

A Novelty on the Hill

If you ever venture outside of Downtown Harrisburg, you will find a world full of history right next door at the National Civil War Museum.  Located on Lincoln Circle next to Reservoir Park, lies the only museum in the United States that portrays the entire story of the American Civil War.  The National Civil War Museum boasts exhibit galleries on two floors, offering a wide variety of visual learning experiences.  The museum hosts a variety of events throughout the year both indoors and outdoors.  For more information on the museum, visit www.nationalcivilwarmuseum.org and continue to read our newsletter as we will highlight a plethra of the museum's events.

Rich Tradition of Pennsylvania

The Quilts have arrived!  Arrived at Radius that is.  Visit Radius on the ground floor of the State Museum now through February 29th to see the winter showcase: Quilts!  There are 23 quilts on exhibit and for sale throughout the shop, all of which are handmade by Pennsylvania craftsmen.  In conjunction with this showcase, Patricia Harants, a quilter who has work in the permanent collection at the museum, will conduct a lecture and book signing on February 10th from 1 - 3 pm in the Museum Auditorium.  If you enjoy rich tradition and true workmanship, visit this exhibit.  For more information, check out http://vc.hacc.edu.
